In an exciting collaboration between the Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU) and the recommendation of Panam Sports, the official launch of the first Pan American Taekwondo Championships in U-21 categories has been announced. This initiative aims to strengthen and prepare the new generation aspiring to compete at 2028 LA Olympic Games.

The event, scheduled to take place from July 25 to 28 at the Arteaga Gymnasium in the city of Querétaro, Mexico, will feature competitions in the Kyorugi and Poomsae modalities for athletes under 21 years old. Additionally, it will leverage the stage of the Cadet and Junior Pan American Championships, which will run simultaneously during the same dates.

Juan Manuel López, PATU president, expressed his enthusiasm for this new initiative that seeks to enhance emerging talent in Pan American region. In his statements, López affirmed, “This championship marks a significant milestone in our commitment for the development of young athletes. We are determined to provide them with the right platform to grow and compete on the world stage, with a focus on the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.”

A noteworthy feature of this championship is its open format, not restrictive to one spot per country. National member federations will be able to send their best talents, promoting the participation of young athletes and diversity of representation in the competition. This format will contribute to a high-level competitive atmosphere and provide an invaluable opportunity for the exchange of experiences among emerging taekwondo athletes in the region.

Furthermore, efforts are underway to get G-1 ranking status for the event from the World Taekwondo, further elevating its significance in the international calendar.

With Querétaro City as the host, this championship promises to be a unique experience for athletes and taekwondo enthusiasts alike. The strategic location and successful organization of previous events make Querétaro the perfect venue for hosting this historic championship.

Taekwondo enthusiasts and sports fans have marked these dates on their calendars. The Arteaga Gymnasium will become the epicenter of the action, bringing together young talents from across the Pan American region in a showcase of skill, determination, and sportsmanship.

With the backing of the Pan American Taekwondo Union and Panam Sports, the Pan American U-21 Taekwondo Championships emerges as a pivotal event on the road to Los Angeles 2028, solidifying itself as a key platform for the rise of future stars in Pan American taekwondo Union.
