The issues raised regarding World Parataekwondo highlight serious concerns about corruption, power abuse, conflict of interest, and nepotism within the organization. The allegations of a single family dominating key positions in the Parataekwondo committee are alarming and suggest a significant deviation from the principles of fairness, meritocracy, and integrity that are supposed to govern sports organizations.

As the ParaTaekwondo movement has gained strength around the world so are the dark interests that never seem to end among the ones that should keep those desires away from the discipline and many point of concern had raised among the community regarding the management of this format:

Dominance of a single family: the claim that the Parataekwondo committee is controlled by Usman Dildar, his wife Hadwah Abdelmatloub Moawad, and other family members is worrying. This dominance raises questions about conflicts of interest and the potential for decisions to be made that benefit a select few rather than the broader community.

Qualifications and experience: the appointment of Hadwah Abdelmatloub Moawad, an orthodontist, as chair of the parataekwondo classification committee, replacing an experienced expert like Terrie Moore, seems highly irregular. Classification in para-sports typically requires specific medical expertise and extensive experience, which Moore had, and Moawad appears to lack.

Conflict of interest: having multiple family members in influential positions within the same committee and other departments poses a clear conflict of interest. It undermines the integrity of the organization and can lead to biased decision-making.

The issues raised suggest violations of World Taekwondo’s own principles, code of ethics, and safeguarding policies. The lack of adherence to these policies indicates a systemic problem within the organization.

The removal of Lee Reaney, a former Communications Specialist who brought these issues to light, raises questions about the organization’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
