As everyone knows, the World Taekwondo Championships are held every two years, but the 2024 Olympic cycle was affected by the COVID Pandemic and this generated that the World Championship that was scheduled to be held in 2021, will be held a year later, being very close to the next World Championship that will be held in May in Baku, Azerbaijan.

As a result, the WT will make the necessary amendments to the Ranking points awarded at Guadalajara 2022, to more fairly balance the distribution of points in the Olympic cycle leading to Paris 2024.

In accordance with Article 5.4 of the World Taekwondo Ranking Statute, in consultation with the WT Games Committee, the points deduction cycle for the World Taekwondo Championships Guadalajara 2022 is modified.

The points will be maintained as follows in the World and Olympic Ranking:

– December 2022 to January 2023: 100% of points obtained in the World Championship.
– February to November 2023: 75% of the points awarded.
– December 2023 to May 2024: 50% of points awarded
– June 2024 to November 2024: 25% of points earned
– November 2024 onwards: 0% of points awarded
