All G-1 events will become G-2 in 2022

After a meeting held between the President of the Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU), Juan Manuel Lopez Delgado and Event and Sports Management Department of the World Taekwondo (WT), great news for the region were agreed.

The highlight of the meeting between PATU President and the Sport & Event Management Department of WT, is that all events for next year that were allocated as G-1 will automatically become G-2.

This initiative was born from the lack of events that the region had due to the terrible situation generated because of COVID-19 and the few possibilities that PATU athletes had to score points for WT Ranking.

Another news worth mentioning is that there will be no limit of G-2 events during 2022, although the maximum number of points that each athlete can score is maintained. For this reason, it is of utmost importance that all organizers of a G event define the date of realization before November 22 of the current year.

“We are working tirelessly so that our athletes can play on equal terms with other continental unions. Communication with WT is permanent, and its already bearing fruit”, explained Juan Manuel Lopez Delgado, President of Pan American Taekwondo Union, with great enthusiasm.

In the coming days Lopez Delgado will have a meeting with all the organizers to set the guidelines that will give life to these events and important points towards Paris 2024.
